US-Taliban expected to sign peace deal next week

Mullah Khairullah Khairkhwah, a senior commander of Taliban informed that the US and the Taliban are expected to sign the much-anticipated peace deal after Eid al-Adha which falls at the end of this week.

The Taliban member was seen stating that talks between US and Taliban will be taken further following the festival of Eid that ends on August 13, in a video that was published on YouTube.

He also mentioned that the negotiation deal between US and Taliban will be signed in the presence of members from UN, the Islamic organization and regional countries following US envoy Zalmay Khalilzad’s return to Doha after Eid.

He said, “ Discussions on other issues including Intra-Afghan negotiations will be made after the peace deal is signed.”

The US special Envoy Khalilzadtraveled to India earlier this week followed with a visit to Norway where he met The Minister for foreign affairs of Norway, EriksenSøreide in order to discuss Afghan peace since he is looking forward to strengthening international community support for the peace process in Afghanistan.
