U.N. nuclear watchdog chief Yukiya Amano died

The 72-year-old Japanese diplomat kept the place of IAEA director-general since 2009, taking up from Mohamed ElBaradei and steering the U.N.company from time of intensive diplomacy over Iran’s nuclear plan when planning in vain to get back to North Korea.

His death coincides with an intelligent escalation of tensions between Iran and the West following Washington’s resolution a year ago to stop 2015 worldwide the deal that curbed Tehran’s nuclear plan in turn for an easing of financial sanctions.

President Donald Trump has reimposed U.S.sanctions on Iran, and the destiny of the attraction offer, which the IAEA has been supervising, is unclear.
