Afghan filmmaker Sahraa Karimi’smovie ‘Hava, Maryam, Ayesha’ has been nominated in the 76th Venice International Film festival which is scheduled to be held from August 29 to September 7.
The movie has been nominated for best fiction category at the festival. The producer, Sarah Karimi said that ‘Hava, Maryam, Ayesha’ highlights the suffering and violence Afghan women go through with different incidents which include explosions and bombings in Afghanistan.
Karimi said that Afghans women have several untold stories of war but nobody is ready to bring forth those stories.
‘Hava, Maryam, Ayesha is a 90-minute full-length movie written and produced by Karimi. It released in Afghanistan last winter.
Karimi is not only the first but the only woman who runs the Afghan Film, which is the only state-owned filmmaking organization.
With almost 10 years of experience in the profession, Karimi has directed over 30 movies so far.
