China, Russia, and the US to discuss Afghan peace in a trilateral meeting

China, Russia, and the US are scheduled to hold a trilateral meeting in Beijing today where they’re expected to discuss the peace process in Afghanistan and the progress and initiatives achieved recently on this issue.

Zalmay Khalilzad, The US special envoy for Afghanistan peace who was in Qatar for the 7th round of talks with the representatives of Taliban in Doha left for Beijing on Tuesday to mark his participation in the trilateral meeting on behalf of Washington.

Both the sides have assured considerable progress in the recent talks regarding the withdrawal of US troops and guarantee from the Taliban’s side to put an end on the usage of Afghanistan as the platform for international terrorism.

The trilateral meeting in the capital city of China comes at a point when the former president of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai is also present in China to discuss Afghan peace with the officials of China.
