Afghanistan exports 100 tons to India via Chabahar Port

Afghanistan has exported 100 tons of domestic products including in the last three weeks to India via Chabahar port.

A total of 700 tons have been exported included legume, precious stones, and dry fruits, through this route to India since its establishment- 2017.

“Over the last three weeks, 100 tons and since its establishment 700 tons of domestic products have been exported through this port,” Tahir Qadiry, Charge’ d’Affaires of Afghanistan Embassy to Indian tweeted.

Afghanistan has exported 20 tons of fresh grapes to India for the first time. Sameer Rasa, Spokesman for the Afghan Ministry of Commerce has told that the export of fresh fruits was challenging because fruits can get spoiled quickly; however, the first attempt was successful, Ariana News reported.

He also said that Afghanistan will soon export Kandahar pomegranate and Maidan Wardak apple via Chabahar to India’s markets.

Chabahar port provides a key supply route for Afghanistan and allows India to bypass Pakistan to trade with Central Asia.

Through Chabahar port, India receives goods at low cost. The port will pave the way for positive business competitions in the region, Afghan officials said.
