Afghan Film “A Letter to the President” bagged best feature-length film award, First place, and Zinta Club WeinheimAward at the WALA International Film Festival held in Germany’s Landenberg.
The film was made by Roya Sadat, an Afghan filmmaker who tweeted to congratulate the entire team associated with the film for winning awards.
This wasn’t the first time that the film received acclamation on an international platform, it has registered several awards to its name earlier also.
Recently it received an award for best screenplay at the SAARC Film Festival held in Sri Lanka’s Colombo earlier this month.
The movie stars LeenaAlamin the lead, the writer of the film is Aziz Deldaar and it was produced by Roya Film House in collaboration with Kaboora Productions.
A letter to the President highlights the miserable lives that women lead in Afghanistan and the levels of discrimination and violence they go through on a daily basis.
The film took about 2 years to be completed and released as it is a 90-minute full-length movie.
