The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum has achieved advancement in dialogue on contracts worth 350 million dollars regarding 5 projects revealed Abdul QadeerMutfi, a spokesperson for the ministry of Mines and Petroleum.
Investment in 2 cement factories and the extraction of marble, talc, and travertine are a part of the projects informed Mufti.
He further informed that no less than 170 million dollars are expected to be invested through the second phase of JabalSiraj cement factory project whereas 136 million dollars are assigned for Samangan cement factory.
He claimed that once the contracts are finalized both the cement factories will hold the capacity to produce 3,300 Tom’s of cement per day and the projects are going to be implemented I Parwan, Nangarhar, and Kunar provinces.
Mufti also stated, “ we are talking, there have been various improvements in all the 5 projects and contracts are expected to be signed soon.”
On the other hand, the delay in mining projects has faced a lot of criticism from the private sector. Jan Alokozay, the acting head for Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries said, “ The process is too long. It should be transferred to the High Economic Council following which, the contracts should be sent to the cabinet and the cabinet should have the authority to approve it.”
