20% annual fright flow to be increase in Uzbekistan- Afghanistan-Iran RailwayCorridor

Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan said that there will be an annual increase of 15-20 percent in the freight traffic in the railway direction Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Iran

It also added that the annual freight traffic in Termez-Mazari-Sharif-Meimene-Herat-Khaf-Bandar-Abbas (Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Iran) railway corridor can reach up to four million tonsafter full commissioning.

“The total length of the transport corridor in the direction of the port of Bandar Abbas (Iran) through the territory of Afghanistan will be approximately 2,540 km, taking into account the estimated length of 984 km of the Hairaton – Mazari-Sharif – Herat – Iranian border railway route,” the official stated.

The representative also noted the construction of a new railway line “Uzbekistan – Kyrgyzstan – China”.

The official of the Ministry of Transport said that the railway line will create a new transport corridor China – Central Asia – Europe, which will boost the volume of traffic to 10-15 million tons per year.
